Distribution of RFCs According to Author Gender

“Document Stats -- What is Going on in the IETF?”

RFCs come from these genders, 3 different genders in total.

  • 6406 RFCs (78.35%) have male authors.
  • 2087 RFCs (25.53%) have unknown authors.
  • 848 RFCs (10.37%) have female authors.

Wondering why the total is greater than 100%? RFCs with multiple authors may be counted multiple times, if the authors have different gender. Genders are determined by knowing some individuals, the rest are guessed by testing the first name via genderchecker.
